Love of the habitat along the Pearl River and the love of “plein air” painting brought three artists together late last spring -Rebecca Frost, Renee Mitchell and Carolyn Busenlener. The artists painted the river and bayous, the pines and the water lilies. This show in the Red Room of the Mockingbird Café at 110 S. Second Street is a record of their passion for "plein air".

In the other gallery spaces at Mockingbird a bevy of artists will be presenting their latest work. Artist and teacher Kat Fitzpatrick will display new floral and abstract encaustic (beeswax) paintings on wood. J.J. Foley has been combining elements of her dual passions for quilting and painting in her latest bold and beautiful acrylics. Ruth Robards Thompson has been examining the textural possibilities of wax versus cake frosting in her newest encaustic works. Encaustic artist Sue Louvier from New Orleans focuses on the natural world in her paintings. Hattiesburg resident Diane Chunn will show her most recent transcendent photographs as well as some encaustic/photographic collages. There will be much to see at the Mockingbird this month. This is a great opportunity to add to your art collection at reasonable prices. Enjoy the Rochelle Harper Band 7-11 at the outdoor bandstand under the stars.

Take part in our tradition of Tequila Tasting with donations to benefit the Hancock County Food Pantry at 212 Main Street.

Hot Spot in the 200 block is Sid Yoder Jewelry at the 220 Gallery. Music will be sponsored by Peoples Bank.
